Hitler, in fact, rises to power and Konradin, who comes from a pro-Nazi family, takes the side of power by supporting the choices of the Dictator, considered by him the only one capable of saving Germany. What appears to be a strong, lasting, unbreakable bond, however, is put to the test by history. A deep, sincere friendship was born between the two boys, protagonists of The Rediscovered Friend, and initially they are linked by two passions that unite them: the reading and the collection of Greek coins. The novel is set in Stuttgart, during the years of the rise of Nazism. Hans has Jewish origins and Konradin comes from a noble German family. In my opinion, it is one of the most beautiful and surprising books I have ever read together with K.’s trilogy of the city by Agota Kristof. The friend found is the historical novel by Fred Uhlman that tells of the friendship, born on school desks, between two completely different boys by social background and character.
